The New York Times cited an anonymous source and says they are not the designer drugs known as "the cream" or "the clear" linked to the Balco lab.
The evidence could be significant because questions have been raised about whether "the clear" or "the cream" were technically steroids under federal law, when Bonds testified before a grand jury in 2003.
In that testimony he denied ever knowingly taking steroids.
The Times says both Bonds and federal prosecutors refused to comment on the story.
