"I'd like for people to find their inner child and get playful. We've lost some of that. We need to find joy and just be silly. We're going through a hard time right now, and it's more important now than ever to find whatever laughter we can in our lives. It's a time for reinvention and creativity. We need to think in new ways. And also to enjoy and love the common denominators we all share in this beautiful exclusive club, we call being human. About Carmen Rutlen, in her own words
My day job is that I own an advertising agency and my art director has been telling me for a year now that I need to get on The View from the Bay! I am a lively redhead with a happy, positive attitude about almost everything...except maybe the dentist, oh yeah, and wrinkles, oh, and then there's the economy. Aside from those three things, I'm a really happy person.
Dancing Naked...in fuzzy red slippers at first blush appears to be a reflection on my life, but in reality it's about all of us. I'm just the common denominator that brings it all together. The book has won two national book awards including the Benjamin Franklin Award and the Bay Area award, the BAIPA Award for Book of the Year in Humor and Inspiration. Four of the Dancing Naked... stories have been published n four Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
I've been a single working mom for about a million years and a few years ago decided it was time to stop talking about finding time to write a book and start writing. That's what I did.
