Police said at the time the shooting in the 300 block of Santa Maria Drive was not a random crime.

Brandon and two other males were sitting in a white four-door Chevrolet Cavalier at the curb when a white Cadillac occupied by four males approached from behind and pulled alongside the Chevrolet, Detective Cleo Mayoral said.

The occupants of the Cadillac got out of the car and walked up to the Chevrolet, Mayoral said. A conversation and a transaction involving money took place between Brandon and the four men, Mayoral said.

One of the four occupants of the Cadillac then fired one shot at close range, striking Brandon in the chest, Mayoral said.

Brandon accelerated forward and to the left in an apparent attempt to make a U-turn before the Chevrolet stalled across both lanes of the road, Mayoral said.

The two occupants of the Chevrolet ran from the vehicle and the four occupants of the Cadillac drove east toward Santa Clara Street, Mayoral said.

Police and paramedics responded around 1:20 p.m. and Brandon was pronounced dead at the scene, Mayoral said.

The suspected shooter is described as black man in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall, between 190 and 200 pounds. Police said he has "squinty" eyes, short black hair, and a thin moustache and goatee.

The four-door Cadillac containing the suspect is likely a 1994 to 1997 Seville with damage to the passenger-side front fender and headlight.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department's Major Crimes Division at (707) 428-7600.
