Oakland police officers detained three suspects and are searching for a fourth, following a vehicle chase in the city Monday night, an Oakland police spokesman said.

The incident started shortly after 8 p.m. when officers located a stolen vehicle in the 7300 block of MacArthur Boulevard, police Officer Jeff Thomason said.

Officers chased the vehicle to the area of 73rd Avenue and Orral Street, where three occupants of the car were quickly detained.

Thomason said a fourth suspect fled into nearby yards and that officers heard a gunshot. It is unclear whether the suspect fired at the officers and officers did not return fire, he said.

Preliminary reports indicated the suspect had fired at officers and that police returned fire. No one was injured in the incident.

Oakland police left the scene around 1:50 a.m..
