Healing a broken heart

Below is information and tips from Susan Piver (see bio below):

When your heart is broken, you find yourself inhabiting a different planet than the rest of humanity, one where tears erupt at the slightest provocation, hours (and hours) can be spent on fantasies of revenge, reprieve, and regret, and every single thing that happens in the course of an ordinary day becomes either a good omen or an awful one in your quest to heal your heart. Waking and sleeping, heartbreak becomes your whole world. Sorrow (your own or others') pierces you to the core. Joy (your own or others') does as well. You are keenly attuned to the presence or absence of love. Things that used to trouble you are revealed as inconsequential. Any certainty you had about the future is gone and you have to let go of the past.

The Wisdom of a Broken Heart is about learning those lessons and becoming stronger, smarter, more loving, and, ultimately, the possessor of a kind of happiness that is indestructible.

  1. Relax -- Healing begins with taming our own minds, because when the heart is broken, the first thing we lose control over is our own mind. Upsetting thoughts plague us day and night. (Susan will lead Spencer and Janelle to perform the "practice of Tranquility" resting awareness on the breath)

  2. See Where You Are - With relaxation as a foundation you can begin to understand what brings more pain and what brings less - directly addressing your feelings. Exaggerate and intensify feelings and learn to let go (ie throw your demons a dinner party, act like a queen) Experimenting in this way will open you up to the truth of what your feeling and take action to see them in a healthier way.

  3. Be Where You Are - Allow unlimited compassion and kindness toward yourself as you see that you are capable of "being" with heartbreak as you realize your personal power. Acknowledge your pain and wish yourself well

  4. Keep a Journal, writing anything and everything that comes to mind, then write the story from a third party point of view.

  5. Dedicate the Merit - Find something good, no matter how small, and share it.
