Garamendi to hold telephone town hall meeting

Garamendi has hosted several town hall meetings in person in the Bay Area since he was elected to replace former Rep. Ellen Tauscher in November, and is holding the telephone town hall tonight to reach out to his district's less densely populated areas.

The 10th Congressional District includes much of Contra Costa County, as well as parts of Alameda, Solano and Sacramento counties.

The 30,000 constituents will receive a phone call tonight with a recorded message from Garamendi asking them to participate in the telephone town hall, in which they will be encouraged to ask the congressman a question on any issue.

About 12,000 of the invitees live in rural parts of the district such as Dixon, Bethel Island and Walnut Grove, Garamendi spokesman Donald Lathbury said. The other 18,000 are spread throughout the district.

Garamendi will be conducting the telephone town hall from Washington, D.C.

He has held in-person town hall meetings in Antioch, Fairfield, Livermore and Walnut Creek since his election. Four additional town halls are scheduled between Feb. 17 and Feb. 20 in Concord, Moraga, Suisun City and El Cerrito and more are planned in March, Lathbury said.

The telephone town hall will begin at 7 p.m. For times and locations of the other town hall meetings, visit www.garamendi.house.gov.
