Equality California, the California's latest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights group, organized the event. The group is trying to drum up support for the legal challenge to Prop 8 which bans same sex marriage.
The group believes people are more likely to accept LGBT people and same sex marriage if they hear from them directly. It is focusing most of its efforts on some of the state's more conservative communities, in the Central Valley and Southern California.
