Santa Rosa police made three arrests Wednesday night during the breakup of what appeared to be a gang-related fight.

Officers responded to reports of a fight occurring at the Santa Rosa Transit Mall at 500 Second Street at around 8:50 p.m., according to Santa Rosa police.

Three juveniles trying to leave the area were detained.

Investigators learned that a fight between two groups of people broke out amid challenges using gang slogans, police said.

During the fight, one person was hit in the head with a bottle and was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

One suspect apparently damaged a police patrol car by trying to kick out one of the windows, police said.

A 17-year-old from Santa Rosa was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and vandalism to a patrol vehicle. Another 17-year-old was arrested for public intoxication. A 15-year-old girl was arrested for resisting arrest and interfering with police officers.

A preliminary investigation indicates the fight was gang-related, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
