Two separate shootings in Oakland early this morning left a 30-year-old man dead and another person injured, police said.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1400 block of 77th Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. and found the 30-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason said.

The man, an Oakland resident, was transported to Highland Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:03 a.m., according to Thomason.

A separate shooting around that same time injured another person, police said.

That shooting was reported in the 900 block of West Grand Avenue at about 2 a.m., according to police. The victim self-transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

Anyone with information about either shooting is urged to call the Police Department at (510) 238-3821.
