Petaluma teen shot in leg while walking home

PETALUMA, CA

The boy told investigators he was walking in the 200 block of Greenbriar Circle at about 11 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle drove by and a male passenger shot him, Sgt. Andrew Urton said.

The teen could not describe the driver and did not know if there were other people in the car besides the driver and passenger, Urton said.

A resident heard the shooting and came to the victim's aid, Urton said.

The boy was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital. His injury is not life-threatening and he was in stable condition this morning, Urton said.

Police looked for witnesses in the neighborhood of the Greenbriar Circle apartment complex but the motive of the shooting is unknown, Urton said.
