3 burglary suspects arrested after chase

CONCORD, Calif.

Police received a call from a resident reporting a suspicious-looking vehicle in the area of Court Lane and Cowell Road at about 1:35 p.m.

The caller told police that one of the car's occupants had entered a neighbor's house and then left with a box, Crump said.

A Concord police officer arrived at the house as the vehicle was driving away and attempted to stop it, but the car sped off and the officer lost sight of it, Crump said.

Then, further along on Cowell Road at Treat Boulevard, a motorcycle officer saw the suspects' vehicle go out of control and crash into a large cable box.

One suspect was found inside the vehicle and arrested, and the other two fled on foot, Crump said.

The second suspect was captured a short distance away and the third was arrested with help from a police dog and California Highway Patrol helicopter, Crump said.

Jewelry, a handgun and other valuables that had been taken from the house were found on the suspects and in their vehicle, Crump said.

The suspects were two 17-year-old boys and one 19-year-old man, police said.
