The Public Policy Institute of California Poll says: two thirds of Californians like the governor's call for a June special election on extending temporary hikes in income, auto and sales taxes for another five years. Forty-one percent of adults surveyed approve of Brown's performance - in his first month in office, 19 percent disapprove and 39 percent are not sure. And people who feel the state is moving in the right direction has now more than doubled to 38 percent.
