Police are searching for two men suspected of attempting to kidnap a girl in Santa Cruz Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Berry and Grant streets, police said.

A 16-year-old girl was walking down the street and passed a rusty or burnt orange 80's style vehicle with two men inside.

The man in the driver's seat yelled at the girl to get in the car.

The girl kept walking and the man on the passenger's side got out of the car. He walked towards the girl and shouted something about getting in the vehicle, according to police.

The girl ran away and when she looked back, she saw the man get back in the car and drive away.

Police responded to the scene but could not locate the car or the suspects.

The man in the driver's seat was described as a white man, between 30 and 35 years old, with dark blonde hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.

The man in the passenger's side was described as a bald black man between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a muscular build, brown eyes, medium complexion, and a small patch of facial hair under his bottom lip. He had no blemishes, a tattoo on the left side of his neck, a diamond stud earring in his left ear. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects or vehicle is urged to call 911.
