Harvey Milk honored with opening of LGBT call center

SAN FRANCISCO

Several members of Milk's inner circle joined elected officials at the opening of Trevor's Lifeline Harvey Milk Call Center on Castro Street. Harvey milk used to answer calls inside of his store from gay and bisexual young people who faced challenges from their families and peers.

"What was so much a part of Harvey's life and his work, to make sure that every young person would know and understand that his or her life was not only due respect and dignity and validation, but had great worth," Senator Mark Leno said Sunday.

Sunday would have been Harvey Milk's 81st birthday.
