Twitter to offer users 'do not track' protection

Twitter will begin offering its users a "do not track" option in order to better protect their privacy.

The San Francisco company announced the new feature Friday. Users who opt-in will have their tweets and follower lists protected and out of the hands of advertisers.

Ad agencies use the information to target ads and collect research about users' habits.
