U.S. Olympic Committee looking for host for 2024 Games

San Francisco is being looked at by the U.S. Olympic Committee as a possible host city for the 2024 Summer Games.

The USOC sent out letters to the mayors of 35 cities to see if they are interested in putting in a bid. San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento are among the cities.

The U.S. last hosted the Summer Games in Atlanta back in 1996.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee says he's pushing hard to bring the Olympics to the Bay Area. Former mayor Gavin Newsom tried getting the 2012 Games, but that effort fizzled.
