National Park Service to close Muir Beach this summer

MARIN COUNTY, Calif.

The National Park Service said on Monday the beach will be closed, beginning in late June for a major upgrade.

They're going to re-do the parking lot, put in a new picnic area, and extend the pedestrian bridge. It's being paid for through the Cosco Busan oil spill settlement.

Nearby businesses will remain open, as will the coastal trail, but there won't be any beach parking or restrooms until November.
