3 Bay Area hospitals facing fines for violations

SAN FRANCISCO

In San Francisco, the California Pacific Medical Center will have to pay a $100,000 fine after a patient had to undergo a second surgery to remove a foreign object. The hospital says it already took actions to prevent it from happening again.

Officials say St. Luke's Campus hospital in San Francisco must also pay a $50,000 penalty for a similar surgical error.

And, Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae is facing a $75,000 penalty for an error involving medication.
