Joy and Richard Mach have been married 40 years and say they're the perfect match. Thankfully, so did Joy's doctors.
She was in urgent need of a kidney. So the day before Valentine's Day, Richard donated one of his to his ailing wife.
"Without a kidney match, she was not going to live a long life," Richard said.
"It was very sentimental," Joy said. "It was very, you know, words of love and appreciation."
She jokingly added, "He couldn't come up with anything else to give me for Valentine's Day so he gave me a kidney."
The couple kissed and said, "see you on the other side," as surgeons wheeled them into their side-by-side operating rooms.
Both are now recovering side-by-side in their Manhattan home.
