Delta Airlines is apologizing this morning after telling a mother she couldn't breastfeed her 10-week-old son without covering herself up.

A Southern California woman tweeted Delta last week to ask about the airline's breastfeeding policy. The woman noted her son won't nurse with a cover.

The airline replied: "Lindsay unfortunately you are not able to breast feed if you don't have a cover up. I'm sorry." Mothers and maternity groups quickly blasted the airline.

The airline later personally contacted the mother to apologize. And a spokeswoman for Delta says its employees are well aware of a woman's legal right to breastfeed. They're calling the tweet a case of misinformation.
