State agricultural officials are expected to begin aerial spraying in the Bay Aea this summer to eradicate the brown apple moth.

An informational meeting is scheduled at the University Inn in Santa Cruz Thursday night, with other meetings to follow.

The apple moth threatens millions of dollars in farm products and more than 2,000 varieties of plants.

Spraying begins June 1 in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. Subsequent aerial treatments are to start August 1 in 11 cities stretching from Marin to the East Bay.

Informational meetings will be held in San Francisco and Oakland next week.
