Caltrains fatally strikes pedestrian

SAN FRANCISCO

Southbound train No 322 struck the pedestrian around 8:38 a.m. between Encinal and Glenwood avenues near the Menlo Park station, where spokeswoman Christine Dunn said there are no crosswalks.

A special San Francisco Giants train that was scheduled to leave San Jose at 9:56 a.m. was canceled because the train crew was on the train that struck the pedestrian. Those with tickets for the special train were redirected.

Delays continue to exist, however. Southbound train No. 134 is delayed 22 minutes. Southbound train No. 236 is delayed 26 minutes, and southbound train No. 138 is delayed 13 minutes.

Trains were briefly stopped in both directions following the accident and Dunn said all northbound trains are now running on schedule.
