A group of 11 inline skaters from all over the world will pound about 470 miles of pavement starting at 9 a.m. today for an anti-violence skate from San Francisco City Hall to the Santa Monica Pier.

The Skate Against Violence Roadskate campaign will demonstrate advantages of teamwork by having three teams alternating one or two-hour turns to complete the distance while a recreational vehicle follows.

Spokesman David Miles Jr. said team members from Switzerland, Singapore, France and the Philippines are ready to roll through the stretch of state and county roads.

The team expects to arrive at the Santa Monica Pier at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
