Abraham Oceguera, 54, was driving east near Thompson Lane around 12:30 a.m. when the accident occurred, Sgt. Robert Mota said. A third horse was not hit and was returned to its owner.
None of the five passengers in the van were injured, Mota said. The incident is still under investigation.
