Sgt. Tim Duke said deputies responding at 5:15 p.m. to a reported stabbing at Summerhome Park Beach on the river near Forestville found a female who had been stabbed in the back and upper torso. Another person suffered a bruised and swollen eye during the confrontation.
Five people tubing down the river were confronted by approximately 15 people on the shore, Duke said.
The initial verbal confrontation was between two females but it escalated when the female onshore waded into the water and fought the female in the tube. A male on shore also entered the water and punctured one of the tubes with a knife, Duke said.
Several other people on shore then entered the water and aggressively pursued the group that was tubing, Duke said. The woman who was stabbed was treated at a local hospital and released.
The Hispanic female suspect from the group on shore is 18-20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches, 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, Duke said.
The Hispanic male suspect with the knife from the group on shore is 20-30 years old, Duke said. The two suspects were last seen fleeing in a white pickup truck with unknown license plates, Duke said.
