Alum Rock Park closed for fire danger

SAN JOSE, CA

Routine weather readings taken in the park Tuesday afternoon indicated a relative humidity of 21 percent, air temperature of 83 degrees, wind speed of 11 mph and fuel moisture of 7 grams, the city reported.

The readings suggest dangerous fire-related conditions, and with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's warning that current weather is an extreme fire danger, the city will close the park to prevent emergencies.

Public access and activity at the park will remain closed all day today, and weather will be reconsidered for the park's status on Thursday, the city reported.

Updated park closure information is available by calling (408) 259-5477.
