OH neighborhood finds alligator under SUV

COLUMBUS, OH

Someone spotted the reptile resting on a south Columbus street Monday morning and called police, who arrived to find an American alligator, about 3 1/2 feet long, next to a tire.

Rilda Edwards says she looked out and was alarmed to see officers and TV news crews surrounding the sport utility vehicle, owned by her husband. But she says she knew he hadn't done anything.

To remove the gator, police called in reptile wrangler Brice Bailey. He quickly grabbed the animal by the tail and then secured its mouth.

Bailey says someone probably kept it as a pet and let it loose when it got too big.

He plans to find the gator a good home.
