The fire was reported at 2:20 p.m. at a Pacific Atlantic Terminals port located 488 Wright Avenue. Employees had reportedly been off-loading aviation fuel from a small tank when the vapors ignited, Banks said.
By the time firefighters arrived, employees had already controlled the flames, which reportedly reached about 10 feet high.
Richmond firefighters helped put out the fire, which was under control within about 10 minutes and extinguished by about 2:40 p.m., Banks said.
The fire was contained to the immediate area and no other injuries were reported.
