Muffulettas
More than a sandwich.
This New Orleans "original" will delight your friends and guest
for any occasion. You can dress it up for special events or
it will be great for picnics and back yard parties.
Ingredients:
- Meats and cheeses
The Muffuletta is a great sandwich made with thinly sliced ham (as fancy or as simple as you want you can even use Prosciutto) Italian salami (any or combination of your favorites) suggestions Copp or Mortadella, Geno, Swiss, Provolone, Mozzorella and Parmesan Cheeses. - The bread
French especially braided French Bread or the classic round Muffuletta bread.
Louisiana Sue's Olive Salad
The Main Ingredient should be made the day before put in frig to marinate make some extra an use it on salads, fill half an avocado, or half of tomato
- 1 cup green pimento stuffed olives, chopped coarsely
- 1 cup black olives, sliced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1/4 cup garlic, minced
- 1/2 to 1 cup Olive oil * I like to use light Italian dressing
- 1 teaspoon Cajun or Creole Seasoning
- Basil to sprinkle over bread
- Oregano to sprinkle over bread
- *optional some like to use chopped cauliflower and diced carrots
Take bread slice and sprinkle with olive oil, basil and oregano start building the sandwich with olive salad, layers of cheeses of your choice, ham, salami then top with more olive salad. Cut into pieces.
*Some like to heat the sandwich to melt the cheese Hot or cold this super sandwich is a hit at any event..
