The University of Massachusetts study found young children who played in a room where the television was on had more difficulty concentrating. They played for shorter periods of time and had difficulty focusing on the play activity.

Children who played in a room with the television off appeared more focused. Those children were able to stay with the same activity for twice the amount of time.
