Small quakes shake the South Bay

Two small earthquakes shook the South Bay early this morning near Milpitas and San Jose, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

USGS reported the first earthquake's epicenter, with a 2.4 magnitude, was about 3.9 miles deep, about 5 miles east of Milpitas and about 9 miles northeast of San Jose.

An earthquake with 1.9 magnitude shook in the same area at 5:50 a.m., according to USGS.
