It was unveiled Tuesday at Crissy Field on the back of a fuel-efficient "smart" car.
The plates feature an image of the Golden Gate Bridge and the tag ine "nature within reach."
The plates cost $50 per year, but the money will go toward restoration, conservation and public access prijects throughout the Bay Area.
The Department of Motor Vehicles can begin issuing the plates once there are 7,500 orders.
