Officials announced Thursday that the campgrounds at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park will reopen Friday, along with a number of trails, some swimming holes and the Big Sur Lodge.
Andrew Molera State Park is still serving as a fire camp and command center, but is slowly being reopened as well, as is Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park to the south.
The /*Big Sur fire*/, known as the /*Basin Complex fire*/, is one of hundreds of fires ignited by a lightning storm one month ago. It has burned 141,000 acres and is now 72 percent contained. Full containment is not expected for another week.
