Donavan Luther Wilson, 22, was arrested Thursday afternoon after a high-risk traffic stop at University and Tucker streets, Healdsburg police Sgt. Matt Jenkins said.
Police got a 911 call at 4:45 p.m. about a woman who fell out of a pickup truck at the Valero gas station at 186 Dry Creek Road. Police learned the woman's 2006 Ford F-150 pickup had been carjacked, Jenkins said.
Police spotted the truck 12 minutes later driving south on University Street from Piper Street and Wilson was taken into custody, Jenkins said.
The California Highway Patrol notified police they recovered a blue Lexus sport utility vehicle that was stolen earlier Thursday in San Francisco on northbound U.S. Highway 101 just north of Dry Creek Road, Jenkins said. Witnesses told police Wilson was driving the Lexus before the Ford pickup was carjacked.
Wilson was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of carjacking, kidnapping, possession of stolen property and vehicle theft. His bail is $130,000.
The carjacking victim was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. No weapons were seen during the carjacking, Jenkins said.
