The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District were called to Deer Trail and Blackhawk drives after the boy fell around 5:40 p.m.
The boy was transported to Children's Hospital Oakland.
Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said deputies did not respond to the scene.
