Some state workers facing a pay cut because of the budget stalemate created problems at a Riverside DMV office on Friday when they called in sick.

The move triggered long lines and some angry customers. Police had to be called in at one point to keep the peace.

State workers are upset over the governor's executive order to cut their pay to $6.55 an hour until a budget deal is reached.

The state controller has refused to comply and the matter is now heading to the court.
