Southbound traffic on the Benicia-Martinez has been switched from the right hand side to the left hand side.
The new alignment is part of a plan to renovate the old bridge with four lanes of southbound traffic by October of next year. The renovations will include adding a bike lane.
The temporary lane changes were made Saturday, but will face their first real test on this first morning of the regular weekday commute.
