Doctors at the Mayo Clinic said Barbara Bachman has started to talk and is tkaing short walks.
The Bachmans were attacked at a tourist attraction, apparently at random. The attacker killed himself.
Their daughter, Elizabeth Bachman, is a former U.S. Olympic volleyball player and their son-in-law coaches the U.S. men's volleyball team.
