An Amber alert issued for the children, 7-year-old Rayna Rasmussen and 4-year-old Lindsey Rasmussen, has been canceled.
Their mother, Rachel Rasmussen, 38, allegedly took the two girls at about 7 a.m. She was believed to be suicidal and allegedly made statements indicating that she might hurt the girls, Lee said.
Law enforcement officials had been in contact with Rasmussen on her cell phone and she agreed to meet them at a location in Brentwood, Lee said.
The meeting took place as planned at 11:10 a.m. today and police recovered the children unharmed.
Police were interviewing Rasmussen, Lee said.
