Homicide suspect turns himself over

SUNNYVALE, CA

Sunnyvale Public Safety Capt. Doug Morettl said Coolidge Avenue was blocked off at about 5 p.m. San Jose police were looking for a homicide suspect in a home located in the single block of the street and residents on the street were not allowed to leave their homes while the street was closed down.

According to San Jose police spokesman Enrique Garcia, the suspect, whose name will not be released before Friday morning, walked out of the home and surrendered soon after 10 p.m.

The man was wanted in the shooting death of 46-year-old Homer Bejarano Resendez outside his home in the 3600 block of Cape Cod Court in San Jose on March 19.

Morettl said residents were allowed back in their homes after the suspect surrendered himself but police were still waiting this evening for a search warrant to explore the now-empty home for evidence.
