The fire was reported at about 5:55 p.m. at a three-story building at 148 Santa Barbara Ave., according to fire officials.
The blaze spread to all three floors of the building, but
firefighters controlled it at about 6:05 p.m. and completely extinguished it
around 9 p.m. before it could spread to nearby homes, according to fire
officials.
One firefighter was injured at the scene and was transported to a
local hospital, while one resident was treated for a general illness.
The fire also displaced six tenants who were able to find living
assistance through the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to
fire officials.
