The incident happened around 2:35 p.m. and stopped the train for about 15 minutes at the West Oakland station, BART spokesman Linton Johnson said.
He said at least three people were detained for threatening other passengers.
Trains headed east through the West Oakland station are expected to experience residual delays of up to 15 minutes.
