New developments in Chauncey Bailey case

OAKLAND, CA

The Chauncey Bailey Project claims that Yusuf Bey IV played a much larger role in the killing than previously known. Bey was head of Your Black Muslim Bakery, a business Bailey was investigating at the time he was killed, last summer.

The reporters also say Oakland's lead investigator in the case, Sgt. Derwin Longmire, never documented key evidence linking Bey to deeper involvement in the crime.

The report has led to an internal investigation of Longmire. The district attorney's office has also launched an investigation into whether there was a conspiracy to kill Bailey.

The Muslim bakery's janitor, 20-year-old Devaughndre Broussard, is the only person charged in the case.
