Suspects sought in takeover bank robbery

CONCORD, CA

At about 9:55 a.m. police received a call from someone at a Citibank branch located at 2950 Treat Blvd., who reported a robbery and then hung up the phone.

Shortly after receiving the call, police received an alert from the bank's alarm system.

When officers arrived, they were told two men had entered the bank. One held customers and employees at bay with a gun while the second man jumped the counter and demanded cash, Cerletti said.

The thieves also took a wallet from a bank customer, and then fled the bank on foot.

Police searched the area with police dogs, but didn't find the two robbers.

Witnesses told officers they saw two men who matched the description of the robbers get into a beige or champagne-colored four-door sedan, possibly a 1990s Toyota or similar car.

The suspects were both described as black men in their 20s.

The first was about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, a dark baseball cap and gloves. He was armed with a black semiautomatic handgun.

The second was about 5 feet 8 inches tall with an average build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, a dark baseball cap, gloves and a backpack.
