Citing the sluggish economy, DHL will discontinue all of its domestic shipping and will focus entirely on international shipping.
The company will close all of its DHL Express Service Centers nationwide and cut 9,500 jobs.
DHL says the decision comes amid heavy losses and fierce competition.
The company was founded in the Bay Area in 1969 and for many years, was based in Redwood City.
