Federal health officials hold China imports

Federal health officials have ordered dozens of imported foods from China to be held at ports, because of possible health risks.

The order covers snacks, drinks, pet foods, chocolate that contains milk, and some bulk protein products. The order is a precaution to keep out foods contaminated with the industrial chemical melamine, which can cause serious kidney problems.

Importers will have to pay to have the products tested by an independent lab, before they're allowed in the country.
