Police, volunteers pack food for needy

BERKELEY, CA

At 6 in the morning Berkeley Police, University of California Police and volunteers from the community gathered to pack food baskets for the needy.

Each box contains a turkey, fresh produce and canned and packaged food. They put together 250 food baskets for distribution.

Much of the money was raised during the officers annual fund-raising Turkey Ride to South Lake Tahoe.

One Berkeley police officer told ABC7, "This program was started by three officers 24 years ago, who decided to ride their bikes all the way to the police station in South Lake Tahoe. What a great opportunity to raise some money for a very needy cause."
