Man stabbed at community center

FREMONT, CA

Police responded to complaints of noise and fighting at the community center, located at 3377 Alder Ave., shortly before 10:30 p.m. They found guests from a birthday party dispersing in the parking lot.

Later that night, a stabbing victim arrived at Washington Hospital's emergency room with three friends, according to the police report.

Initially the three declined to give details about the evening, only later acknowledging they attended the party at the community center. The men denied knowledge of any fighting, police said.

Police reported that the victim, age 21, was "intoxicated and uncooperative" and refused to identify the person who stabbed him.

His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Without additional information from the victim or witnesses, the Police Department has limited ability to investigate further, Sgt. Steven Pace said.

"It's frustrating to us," he said. "We want to go out there and try to solve these crimes, but it's hard when we don't have cooperation from the victim himself."
