A portion of Grand Avenue in Oakland will be closed this evening to make room for sumo wrestlers, the mayor and others who will celebrate the opening of a new Japanese restaurant.

Ozumo Oakland, a Japanese grill, lounge and sushi bar, has invited two-time world champion sumo wrestler Byambajav Ulambayar and some of his colleagues to fight each other in a wrestling ring to be set up on Grand Avenue near Broadway, organizers said.

Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums has also been invited to the party, which will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at 2251 Broadway near Grand Avenue.

Ozumo Oakland is the East Bay counterpart of Ozumo San Francisco, which opened in 2001.
