They received food, personal care items and toys in a relief effort called Miracle on Pier 48.
The National Basketball Players Association, the international group Feed the Children, and the Willie Brown Institute are hosting the charity event.
Miracle on Pier 48 kicks-off the first of four nationwide food distributions that will also be held in Los Angeles, Houston and Detroit.
